A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANT HILL AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE AND USE OF A $53,070 GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES STATE HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM 2024 (SHSGP 2024) FOR PURCHASE
OF NIGHT VISION GOGGLES
WHEREAS, the State of California has authorized a grant of $53,070 to the Pleasant Hill Police Department under the FY 2024 State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP 2024) program to be distributed as reimbursement by the Office of the Sheriff, Contra Costa County, Emergency Services Division and which must be spent by March 31, 2027; and
WHEREAS, as a condition of receiving the grant funds, state law requires the City Council to authorize the acceptance of grant funds for specific purposes related to the purchase of night vision goggles; and
WHEREAS, the Pleasant Hill Police Department recommends that the new grant funds be spent on the purchase of five pairs of night vision goggles; and WHEREAS, the City Council held a hearing on June 2, 2025, to review and consider the proposed expenditures.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Pleasant Hill that:
1. The City Council authorizes the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the County of Contra Costa Office of the Sheriff to accept grant funds for $53,070 from the FY 2024 State Homeland Security Grant Program for the purchase of night vision goggles.
2. The City Council authorizes a budget increase for grant revenues and appropriate budget for the State Homeland Security Grant Program in Fiscal Year 2025-2026.
