Adopt Resolution 2024-39 Approving Redwood Waste Solutions Residential, Commercial, Multifamily and Rolloff Rate Increases
ANALYSIS
In April 2024, the City Council approved a new Franchise Agreement with Redwood Waste Solutions (RWS), which was effective July 1, 2024. The rate schedule approved at that time was consistent with the rates they charge in County unincorporated areas surrounding Point Arena. Section 15 of the Agreement entitles RWS to annual rate adjustments in the form of pass-through adjustments, including cost-of-living, fuel rate, and commodity price adjustments as of January 1st of each year. The Point Arena City Council must approve rate increases prior to becoming effective.
RWS has calculated the January 1, 2025 rate increase to be 5.52%, and is requesting the City’s approval. Rate increases for each type of service are set forth in Attachment 2.
Redwood Waste solutions will have representatives at the Council meeting to answer any questions, including how the rate increase was calculated.
FISCAL IMPACT
The rate increase impacts both residents and businesses.
