TITLE
Appointment of Mayor
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Adopt a motion confirming the newly selected Mayor to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending December 2026.
ANALYSIS
On September 10, 2025, Mayor Dobbins submitted her resignation from the Office of Mayor, creating a vacancy in that position. Pursuant to California Government Code § 36801, when a vacancy occurs in the office of Mayor, the City Council must select one of its members to serve as Mayor.
The Council must now nominate and vote to appoint one of its members to fill the role of Mayor for the remainder of the current term, which ends December 2026.
Because Vice Mayor Dan Doyle will continue serving in his existing role, only the Mayor position will be filled at this time. Dobbins will remain a Councilmember.
