451 School St. | PO Box 67 | Point Arena, CA 95468
January, 2026
Monthly Department Report
Prepared by: Joe Wilson, Chief Plant Operator of Point Arena Wastewater Treatment Facility Summary / Overview
January 2026 operations proceeded within regulatory limits. Treatment flows were consistent with seasonal expectations, and no permit violations were recorded. The month focused on maintenance of equipment, Jetting our collection system to clean the main lines.

Notable Events:

1.) January was a good month for the Wastewater plant. We had decent weather and not much rain.

2.) No events to note the past month.

Maintenance and Repairs
• Preventive maintenance performed on collection system. • Jet entire collection system.
• Jetting the main line’s reduces sewer overflows (SSO’S). • Next month we hope to pull the pump at Cypress Meadows lift station and rebuild it, in-house.

Unfortunately, we are going to need some more dry weather to safely do it. We will be running on one pump there until we get the pump rebuilt and set back in place.

Safety and Training
• Had a tailgate safety meeting on Traffic Control/Flagging before we started Jetting main line’s • Signed up employees for more online safety meetings on Vector’s website. • Once they are completed, they will be printed and kept in a file at plant for the city’s records. • Sign up employees for more safety classes once the current ones are done.

Regulatory Compliance
• Plant was in compliance with all State requirements.
• The collection system was in compliance with State requirements. • The Sewer plant and system are in compliance.

Laboratory / Monitoring Data
• All samples collected and/or sent to Alpha lab’s was in compliance. • Plant is running well at the moment.

Environmental / Community Notes
• In February, I am going to be going around to all businesses, doing inspections on Grease Traps, cleaning logs, properly sizing of current traps, explaining the importance of fats, oil, and grease. • Explain to everyone the importances of disposing of (FOG), and why we are putting this (FOG) program in place.
• Checking everyone’s Log’s/documents on the disposal of FOG. • Check record of cleaning logs.
• Provide record logs if none are at the site. Provide information FOG, how to properly calculate the size of grease trap needed for each business, what should never go down the drain and what should be done before washing grease used dishes/cookware. Recommend cleaning schedule and give them a log if they don’t have one already.

Goals / Priorities for Next Month
• Perform equipment maintenance on plant and collection system. • Rebuild pump for lift station.
• Staff training or certifications, make sure everyone is doing the online training. • Finish Annual State Report and submit it.

Summary,
The wastewater plant is running well at this time. No issues during the past month. Starting commercial FOG inspections this next month. Collection system is well and no SSO’s to report. That is all to report at this time.

Thanks,
Joseph Wilson (CPO)
