NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AMENDING CUSTOMER POWER RATES FOR POMONA CHOICE ENERGY THE POMONA CITY COUNCIL does hereby declare and give notice that a public hearing will be held January 10, 2022, via teleconference commencing at 7:00 p.m. to consider the following:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA AMENDING THE CUSTOMER POWER RATES FOR POMONA CHOICE ENERGY COMMUNITY CHOICE AGGREGATION The Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) Program is authorized in California under Assembly Bill 117 (2002) and Senate Bill 790 (2011) which allow local governments to purchase electricity directly, in the wholesale power market, for the purpose of selling it to its residents and businesses. The program provides cities an alternative to purchasing electricity provided by an investor owned utility (IOU) such as Southern California Edison (SCE). The CCA Program does not act as a municipal utility, as the current IOU, SCE, will continue to provide transmission and distribution, power line maintenance, and customer billing services.
Pomona Choice began serving its residential customers in October 2020 and small and medium commercial customers in June 2021. The City Council established Pomona Choice rates by adopting resolution number 2020-96 on July 6, 2021-36 on April 5, 2021, and 2021-82 on July 19, 2021.
The proposed rates are available at the City Clerk’s office.
At the public hearing on the above date, at the time and place stated, any person interested in voicing their comments regarding the establishment of the proposed fees may appear and be heard.
