FEBRUARY 28, 2022 REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
PUBLIC COMMENTS
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
ELIZABETH EBINER - Dear Council Members,
I regularly do trash pick-up in our neighborhood and occasionally venture to Holt Avenue to do the same. This past weekend, one of the items that I plucked from the Holt Avenue sidewalk was a bloody tampon. As disgusting as this is, it only reminded me of other items that are often lying on the sidewalk or in the gutter - dirty diapers, bottles of urine, condoms, feces, dirty syringes, half-drunk bottles of alcohol. Do you know what is most discouraging? It's knowing that many of these items will never, ever be disposed of properly. They will lie and rot, turn to sludge, and make for unsanitary conditions in our City. Only if it rains will they possibly run off into the sewer. Should this be our goal? Upon inquiring to City staff, I was told that the City cannot expand its street cleaning protocol. This is regrettable. Besides street cleaning, though, Holt Avenue needs sidewalk cleaning! Why should the neediest area of Pomona be ignored? Residents and businesses deserve clean streets and sidewalks.
CEDRIC EBINER - Dear Council Members,
I urge you to meet in person again and drop the Zoom meetings once and for all. This is NOT democracy. In a democracy officials are representing their people and they should be ready to work with them, to listen to them, to sympathize with them, to hope with them in order to be best in tune with them. Hiding behind a computer screen in the comfort of their home or office hampers the Council Members to really feel for their constituents and truly show their compassion. Have the courage to drop Zoom and really be with us and live out democracy as it was meant to be.
LISA CHAVEZ - I live in Pomona in senior housing apt called the Pacific Villa Senior Apts and 2yrs ago it started getting Rats in the AC ventilation system and I reported it to management and nothing was ever done even months later and through Covid did anyone come ,some neighbors moved because they couldn't handle it and she left everything behind,..none of them wanted to report it for fear of eviction, it wasn't until 2021 they finally came to my door but not to talk about an exterminator but to collect the rent that I stopped paying after management AND THE HEALTH DEPT did nothing about the problem,..we the senior tenants did! Did I mention that I had to mourn BOTH MY PARENTS alone in a Rat infested Apartment, Holidays didn't happen because the Rats ate most our food! Today I got handed a 5 day notice to respond to the unlawful detainer or the judge can decide against me with out me being heard and sue me. Please Mr.
Robert Torres I am pleading with you to help us, they're trying to get me to get covid relief but it happened before covid! I have all my evidence but I don't want to get sued! Please help!

VENITA REYNOLDS - I have been a resident, and homeowner for over 21 years, and also the Cultural Arts Commissioner for District 4. My concerns are as follows: Our unhoused population, has been out of control, worse even since H4H was opened. The mentally ill, and criminal elements among the unhoused are making life for the rest of us unlivable. I was recently pelted with beer bottles to trying to prevent encroachment on my property, from a mentally ill person, and her criminally minded significant other, and I hear the horror stories everyday! Enough is Enough! When Home 4 Home, was proposed, the residents were promised in the several meetings | attended that once H4H was opened we would have a zero tolerance policy towards vagrancy, and loitering. Ha! It's worse now than it's ever been. We, the taxpayers have paid millions of dollars for H4H, VOA, and Tri-City Mental Health to have wrap around services, even dog care, and yet H4H remains under utilized. Even before COVID, it was rarely at capacity. My question is what are you doing with the funds we've already paid out? We need a comprehensive plan for the homeless, as well as a PROACTIVE PLAN, with VOA, and TriCity Mental Health getting out in the streets to inform, and engage the unhoused, instead of expecting them to flow through the doors. The HEART TEAM does a great job, but there's is all reactive: Before VOA gets anymore funding I'd like to have their data included on a monthly basis on the Council Agenda: as suggested by another resident on ND.
