A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA,
COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
PROCLAIMING APRIL 2022 AS “ACTS OF KINDNESS” MONTH
IN THE CITY OF POMONA
WHEREAS, as a Compassionate Pomona—in concurrence with the Charter for Compassion which the City of Pomona proclaimed on April 2nd, 2018—we continue to focus on thoughts and actions that promote compassion and inner and outer peace; and
WHEREAS, in alignment with the goal of compassion, Compassionate Pomona has identified “Kindness” as an action and value which supports the Charter for Compassion; and
WHEREAS, during the month of April when spring has begun and nature renews itself, we also warm toward our neighbors and strangers as we accept the certainty of Earth’s abundance even during these times illness and aggression; and WHEREAS, during these times, performing acts of kindness has become more essential, literally saving lives, protecting our shared well-being, and advancing our need to trust our human interrelatedness and our yearning for peace; and WHEREAS, acts of kindness reward the doer as much as the receiver thereby multiplying ecological, social, and personal benefit; and WHEREAS, kindness can be spontaneously bestowed in word and deed and in simple recognition of another’s likeness to ourselves, and it can also be generated as an outcome benefitting others through planned and dedicated public or private service; and WHEREAS, a universal commitment to perform acts of kindness everyday would change the world; and each day offers an opportunity to be kind; and WHEREAS, school youth projects, business programming, and governmental and non-profit services can encourage acts of kindness which contribute to a healthy, rewarding community experience; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pomona encourages all Pomonans to embrace “Acts of Kindness Month” through intention and action and to use “#kindnessPomona” to share this movement on social media, thus integrating “Kindness” into the daily life of our community commencing with each day in April.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA does hereby proclaim the month of:
