SUBJECT: INTRODUCTION AND FIR ST READING OF AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ARTICLE XII OF THE POMONA CITY CODE
PERTAINING TO YARD SALES
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council introduce, waive further and give first reading to the following ordinance:
ORDINANCE NO. 4313 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF POMONA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION XII OF
THE POMONA CITY CODE PERTAINING TO YARD SALES
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
DISCUSSION:
Section XII of the Pomona City Code establishes regulations pertaining to Citywide Yard Sales, including outlining the weekends on which quarterly yard sales can be conducted – currently the first weekends in March, June September and December. The proposed attached ordinance (Attachment 1) would amend the Code to provide for establishment of the Yard Sale schedule by Council Resolution. Adoption of this ordinance to provide for scheduling by resolution, instead of embedding the schedule within the City Code, will provide additional f lexibility, should the City Council wish to amend the schedule in the future.
If approved, the ordinance will take effect 30 days after second reading and adoption. In accordance with previous Council direction, staff will bring back a resolution to es tablish the schedule for quarterly yard sale weekends in the months of February, May, August and November, upon the effect date of the modified ordinance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
