A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING A SIDE LETTER AGREEMENT TO THE 2021-2023 MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF POMONA AND THE POMONA CITY EMPLOYEES’ CHAPTER OF THE TEAMSTERS LOCAL 1932 IMPLEMENTING cANINE PAY PROVISIONS WHEREAS, the current Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Pomona and the Pomona City Employees’ Association, a Chapter of the Teamsters Local 1932 (PCEA/Teamsters) was adopted on October 18, 2021; WHEREAS, the Police Department is accepting a gift of a new Facility Canine to assist with the emotional wellbeing and support to the community, victims of crime, and employees; WHEREAS, the handling of the new Facility Canine will be assigned to a Community Services Officer I/II position; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the City Manager to enter into a Side Letter Agreement with Teamsters regarding compensation for the handling of a canine; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Pomona, California as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to meet and confer with Teamsters regarding entering into a Side Letter Agreement to the 2021-2023 Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Pomona and Teamsters to implement provisions for canine handling.
SECTION 2. That upon concluding the meet and confer process with Teamsters, the City Manager of the City of Pomona is hereby authorized to enter into a Side Letter Agreement, similar to the form submitted and attached hereto as Exhibit A, for and on behalf of the City of Pomona, with terms to be effective to be effective May 1, 2022, and the City Clerk shall attest to same.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution, and it shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
