SUBJECT: Adoption of a Resolution Amending the Schedule for Conducting Citywide Yard Sales RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the following resolution:
Resolution No. 2022-52 – A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING THE SCHEDULE FOR CONDUCTING CITYWIDE YARD SALES EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
In accordance with previous Council direction regarding the desire to alter the schedule for Citywide Yard Sale weekends, staff prepared an ordinance for Council to provide for scheduling adjustments by City Council resolution. As proposed, Resolution No. 2022-52 (Attachment 1) would preserve remaining 2022 Yard Sale Weekends in the months of June, September and December, as previously established within the now amended City Code and modify the schedule for Quarterly Yard Sale Weekends to be conducted in the months of February, May, August and November beginning in Calendar Year 2023.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
PREVIOUS RELATED ACTION:
At the Meeting on April 18, 2022, the City Council adopted, at second reading, Ordinance No. 4313, modifying Article XII of the Pomona City Code to provide for scheduling of Citywide Yard Sales by Council Resolution.
DISCUSSION:
Section XII of the Pomona City Code establishes regulations pertaining to Citywide Yard Sales. Along with other provisions, the Code previously established the first weekends in March, June September and December as the weekends on which residents may conduct quarterly yard sales. Staff prepared Ordinance No. 4313 to amend the Code by providing for scheduling of Citywide Yard Sales by Council resolution in accordance with previous Council direction and to increase flexibility of modifying the Citywide Yard Sale schedule.
If approved, Resolution No. 2022-52 would continue the Citywide Yard Sale Schedule as previously established for the remainder of 2022, and modify the schedule quarterly yard sale dates to be conducted in the months of February, May, August and November beginning in 2023.
