RESOLUTION NO. 2022-120 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE FY 2022-23 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (CIP) BUDGET BY CREATING THE NEW CIP PROJECT: “MISSION BOULEVARD GUARDRAIL,” PROJECT NO. 428-2590-XXXXX-71067, AND APPROPRIATING $90,000 OF CORONAVIRUS STATE AND LOCAL FISCAL RECOVERY AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN (ARP) FUNDING TO THE NEW PROJECT WHEREAS, the City Council desires to address a pressing safety issue and amend the FY 2022-23 CIP Budget by creating a new CIP project, “Mission Boulevard Guardrail,” Project No. 428-2590-XXXXX-71067; and WHEREAS, Mission Boulevard is a main thoroughfare in the City, connecting residents to goods and services, government (including City Hall, the Superior Court, and the County Department of Public Services, all located along Mission Boulevard), medical offices, and schools; and WHEREAS, the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Phillips Drive has been the site of numerous traffic collisions that have resulted in vehicles being forced off the road and down the slope along the south side of Mission Boulevard towards several residential homes; and WHEREAS, adding approximately 500 feet of guardrail along the south side of Mission Boulevard, beginning at the southeast corner of Mission Boulevard and Phillips Drive, will increase the overall safety of the area, leading to fewer and less severe accidents, facilitating health and wellness, thus justifying the use of ARP funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Pomona as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council amends the FY 2022-23 CIP Budget by creating a new CIP project, “Mission Boulevard Guardrail,” Project No. 428-2590-XXXXX-71067.
SECTION 2. The City Council amends the FY 2022-23 CIP Budget by appropriating $90,000 of Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding 428-2590-80881-71067 and 428-2590-66196-71067) to “Mission Boulevard Guardrail,” Project No. 428-2590-XXXXX-71067.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution, and it shall become effective immediately upon its approval.
