The City evaluated the responses and invited the top responders to give a presentation to an evaluation committee (Committee). The Committee was comprised of staff from Engineering, Planning, and Water Resources. The response from Alta Planning and Design, Inc. received the highest scores and was deemed the most qualified proposal. The Project will create a pedestrian and cyclist-friendly path that will provide connectivity for area students, residents, and visitors to local schools, parks, the Fairplex, and Cal Poly Pomona. The Project will run along the north side of the San Jose Creek channel adjacent to South Campus Drive, a main thoroughfare to and from the campus of California State Polytechnic University Pomona. The Project will begin at Temple Avenue, undercrossing State Route 57 and State Route 71, and end just south of Interstate 10 at Murchison Avenue. The design will include greenways, approximately 15 access points, wayfinding signage, increased runoff capture, and a variety of traffic-controlled crossings. The City envisions this Project as a flagship project that other Cities will emulate as an innovative bike path connecting various segments of Pomona to parks and educational facilities, while providing a safe means to improve health and wellness.
