Staff is seeking City Council approval of Resolution No. 2022 - 193 (Attachment No. 1) to approve and submit the Integrated Resources Plan (Plan) to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) for Pomona Choice Energy (PCE).

DISCUSSION:

To ensure energy providers are meeting standards set forth in SB350, as well as meeting greenhouse gas emission reduction targets as established by the California Air Resources Board, a Plan is required to be developed and filed with the CPUC every two years. As is required, our Plan looks at a 10-year time horizon and establishes a program for PCE’s procurement activities that meet California’s Renewables Portfolio Standards and greenhouse gas emission targets. Over the past few weeks, CalChoice and its technical consultants, on behalf of PCE, have been working closely with the CPUC to ensure the IRP meets all the requirements as established by the CPUC. A complete copy of the IRP will be on file in the Water Resources Department.

At this juncture, staff is seeking approval to submit IRP to the CPUC by November 1st.
