Subject: Public Hearing to Establish a Preferential Parking District on American Ave. between College Ave. to Mills Ave.
Dear Resident:
This letter is to inform you that the City of Pomona is proceeding with the implementation of the Preferential Parking District on the south side of American Ave. This District will make it easier for Pomona residents to park on the street. A petition signed by Pomona residents on the south side of American Ave. found that a majority favored restricting on-street parking to Pomona residents and guests.
For Claremont residents living on the north side of American Ave., please consider this a courtesy notice.
The Public Hearing to establish a Preferential Parking District is scheduled to go to City Council for consideration on January 23, 2023 at 7:00 pm. at the Council Chambers. The proposed recommendation to establish a Preferential Parking District on the south side of American Ave., between College Ave. and Mills Ave., is shown in the attached map. Implementation will occur immediately upon Council approval. Parking regulations will be effective 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will be enforced by Pomona Police Department (909.622.1241, Pomona Police Dispatch).
The Public Works Department may furnish Pomona residents with up to two (2) resident parking permits and two (2) guest parking permits for each parcel/residence, once approved by City Council, and implemented by City staff. Temporary permits that allow parking for additional guest vehicles may be requested at any time at no cost from the Pomona Public Works Department located at City Hall. These parking permits will allow parking for a limited time.
You are welcome to attend the January 23, 2023 Council meeting to voice any concerns regarding the proposed Preferential Parking District.
