SUBJECT: ESTABLISHING THE ORDER OF APPOINTMENT OF THE VICE-MAYOR AND SELECTING AND DESIGNATING DISTRICT 1 COUNCILMEMBER, JOHN NOLTE, AS VICE-MAYOR ______________________________________________________________________________ RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the following resolution:
RESOLUTION NO. 2023-21 – A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING THE ORDER OF APPOINTMENT OF VICE-MAYOR AND SELECTING AND DESIGNATING DISTRICT 1 COUNCILMEMBER, JOHN NOLTE, AS VICE-MAYOR PREVIOUS RELATED ACTION: On June 6, 2022, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2022-87 (Attachment 2) establishing the order of appointment of Vice-Mayor, selecting and designating Councilmember Elizabeth Ontiveros-Cole, as Vice Mayor.
DISCUSSION:
Eight-Month Vice-Mayor Selection Cycle
Pursuant to Section 2-41(a) of the Pomona City Code (PCC), the City Council shall select one of its members as Vice-Mayor every eight months.
Accordingly, it is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution No. 2023-21 (Attachment 1) establishing the order of appointment as Districts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 4; that District 1 Councilmember John Nolte be appointed as the current Vice-Mayor; and the order for appointment for the next eight-month term beginning October 16, 2023, be Districts 2, 3, 5, 6, 4, and 1.
