The Southern California Regional Energy Network (SoCalRen) is a service of the County of Los Angeles that helps public agencies take advantage of a wide variety of energy efficiency opportunities that can help save energy and money. The City secured a SoCalRen Revolving Savings Fund (RSF) loan in the amount of $1,539,211 with zero percent interest to be paid over five years using the General Fund. The loan is to assist the City with upfront construction costs to enable the projects to move forward.
The funding will be used for energy efficiency upgrades, specifically, lighting improvements, throughout the interior and exterior spaces of the Palomares Park Community Center. Improvements include retrofitting interior linear fluorescent troffers (ceiling lights) with equivalent LED troffers, replacing CFL lamps with LED equivalents, and replacing exterior CFL and HID fixtures with equivalent LED fixtures and lamps. It will also include a new Energy Management System (EMS) at Palomares Park Community Center to be integrated with the existing Automated Logic EMS at Pomona City Hall. Energy efficiency upgrades at the Pomona Public Library will occur through a separate CIP project and funding.
