The Police Department has been awarded an Officer Wellness and Mental Health Grant totaling $105,313. This grant provides for a one time disbursement of funds geared for officer wellness and mental health related purchases. The Police Department is committed to fostering a culture of wellness and maintains a wellness program that supports its members with practical wellness resources and training. This proactive wellness program is intended to be a holistic approach to a member's well-being by promoting such things as physical fitness, proper nutrition, stress mitigation, and more. Promoting wellness among Police Department employees is important because law enforcement can be physically and psychologically demanding work. The Police Department will utilize grant funds to obtain new physical fitness equipment to encourage and provide better physical fitness training opportunities for all members of the Police Department and provide training opportunities in the area of wellness and resiliency.
