From: James Makshanoff, City Manager
Submitted By: Chris Diggs, Water Resources Director
SUBJECT: APPROVE FIRST AGREEMENT AMENDMENT FOR CONSULTANT SERVICES CIVILTEC ENGINEERING, INC. FOR “RESERVOIR ASSESSMENT AND REHABILITATION DESIGN” PROJECT RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the City Council take the following actions:

Amend the professional services agreement with Civiltec Engineering, Inc. increasing the agreement by $63,200 (from $109,530 to $172,730) for the “Reservoir Assessment and Rehabilitation Design,” Project No. 428-2590-XXXXX-95081; and, Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute the agreement amendment with Civiltec Engineering, Inc. on behalf of the City and any subsequent documents or amendments, subject to approval by the City Attorney.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

This amendment allows for the generation of final design and bidding documents for the City’s Water Reservoir 6.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The fiscal impact is an amendment of $63,200 to the original agreement amount with Civiltec of $109,530. Funds were approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget by the City Council in Acct # 428-2590-XXXXX-95081. DISCUSSION:

In July 2018, the City and Civiltec entered into an agreement to perform an assessment of the condition of Reservoir 6. The analysis concluded the roof is in need of replacement, and staff is now preparing plans to complete the project. This amendment will fund the necessary geotechnical work, final design-build plans, specifications, and construction estimates. Once completed, staff will place the construction project out for bid and return to the City Council with a construction contract. Based on the time the reservoir can be out of service, it is estimated construction will commence in the Fall of 2024.
