DISCUSSION:

A specific priority and goal of the City Council is the activation of the City’s parks. Parks play a critical role in supporting the community's overall health, including encouraging physical activity, and promoting a strong sense of community and belonging.

The City received approval from the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District (RPOSD) to use Measure A funding for five projects Citywide. The projects at Ted Greene Park, Country Crossings Park, Martin Luther King Jr., Park, and Jaycee Park will replace the existing playgrounds and surfacing with new all-abilities playgrounds and rubberized surfacing. The project at Washington Park will provide a new playground near the baseball fields so that children can play near their parents while they attend baseball games at the park.

The supplier/installer, Miracle Recreation, was located through Sourcewell Cooperative Contract No. 10521-LTS. Sourcewell operates as a joint powers association for public agencies possessing legal authority to serve as a contracting agency for municipalities. In accordance with City Code 2-997, the Procurement Officer has thoroughly reviewed the procurement process conducted by Sourcewell, and recommends utilizing the Sourcewell Contract for this purchase.
