A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, PROCLAIMING JUNE 2024 AS “GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION MONTH” IN THE CITY OF POMONA WHEREAS, the City of Pomona recognizes the importance of prioritizing the safety and well-being of its residents; and WHEREAS, gun violence remains a persistent and devastating threat to communities across the nation, including within the City of Pomona; and WHEREAS, the month of June is nationally recognized as Gun Violence Prevention Month, providing an opportunity for communities to come together in solidarity against this pervasive threat; and WHEREAS, the City of Pomona acknowledges the urgent need for cohesive action at the community level to address the root causes of gun violence and prevent future tragedies; and WHEREAS, by designating June as Gun Violence Prevention Month, the City of Pomona aims to honor the memory of those affected by gun violence, raise awareness about the resources and initiatives available through the Office of Violence Prevention and Neighborhood Wellbeing, and underscore its commitment to prioritizing violence prevention as a key component of its public health agenda.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA does hereby proclaim June 2024 as “GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION month”
