Pomona city council,
Dear city council and city management.

I want to notify you about the interest of the street vendors in continuing with their project formally presented. The project included:
• Support to receive a public space where the street vendors can sell 4+ nights at week. • To receive support with the city and county licensing and certification This notice is also to inform you that the original group was divided between two groups of street vendors. The original group continues asking for the same support formerly presented.

The instructions are to please contact ONLY Veronica Cabrera to receive any information related to the original petition. The other two authorized members (Efren and Marilu) will contact you to provide their own instructions.

The main goal of the street vendors represented by Veronica Cabrera is for the street vendors to:
• To be able to work daily in an approved city area
• To comply with the city requirements, licenses and certifications • To formally register their mobile micro-business.
• To pay for city and county permits and licensing.
• To provide food services following the health department guidelines and requirements. • To free the public areas from any obstruction
• To minimize any hazard or public risk the street vendors may cause to the public • To avoid creating business conflicts with the restaurant owner's interest • To help the city comply with its obligation to offer clean and attractive streets. • To continue offering food and services to consumers who want it.

Thank you for your attention,
Verone da

To Whom It May Concern:

It is my pleasure, as the Director of the Student and Family Support Services for Pomona Unified School District, to write this letter of support for the Assistance League of Pomona Valley and its application for the CDBG grant.

Assistance League's Operation School Bell positively influences the lives of students and their families by providing clothing and other items needed to attend school. On a twice-monthly basis, Assistance League's Operation School Bell provides clothing to many elementary school students, over 80 each month.

Pomona Unified School District serves more than 22,000 students through 40 different schools, with approximately 88% of our students qualifying for free or reduced-cost lunch. Our school community comprises about 86% Hispanic/Latinx students. In our district, English is the home language for fewer than half of our students. To meet the needs of our community, we are happy to collaborate with the Assistance League. Their program helps to meet the basic needs of our students from underrepresented groups. Our collaboration with the Assistance League usually ensures they are responsive to the needs of our families.

Assistance League staff have diligently carried out contract requirements in all programs they have collaborated on with us. I have found their involvement to support success and their staff to be dedicated and hardworking.

It is my pleasure to recommend this agency as an applicant. If I can further assist, please do not hesitate to contact me at the above number.

Respectfully, .......

Subject: CDBG Funding for CLASP
CAUTION: This email originated from outside your organization. Exercise caution when opening attachments or on clicking links from unknown senders.

PLEASE FORWARD TO THE COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR THE JUNE 3 PUBLIC HEARING.

The mission of Claremont After-School Programs, Inc. (CLASP) is to help elementary-school children enhance their academic, organizational and social skills by providing high-quality, after-school programs in Claremont Unified School District neighborhoods. The boundaries of CUSD overlap with part of Pomona's District 6, which includes affordable housing complexes, extended-stay hotels, and mobile home parks that are north and south of Foothill Boulevard and west of Towne Avenue. About 33% of our students live in this area.

We had 25 Pomona students in our program at the end of the school year. Our actual program cost is approximately $1,600 per student, which translates to a cost of $40,000 for the 25 Pomona students that we serve. The requested $9,000 in our grant request covers the cost of 5 to 6 students.

CLASP offers in-person and Zoom sessions, providing after-school homework assistance and enrichment two days per week for 90 minutes each day. Children are admitted to CLASP because they have been identified by their teachers as students who have the greatest need for our services. Volunteer tutors work with one student at a time to help reduce the achievement gap that has widened for academically at-risk students due to COVID-19.

This early intervention helps students gain the knowledge and skills they need to do well in the classroom.

One Pomona parent wrote: "CLASP has been instrumental in my child's academic improvement and confidence in problem solving. The staff and tutors provided a safe and caring environment that encouraged exploration and growth. Last year, my child faced many challenges. Acceptance into the CLASP program provided an environment that increased his self esteem. Programs such as yours are so beneficial and our family feels blessed to have been a part of it."
Thank you for your continued support of CLASP and the Pomona children that we serve.

Sincerely,
Cindy Sullivan
CLASP Treasurer
