DISCUSSION:
The recommended action will authorize the procurement of Dell PowerStore 500T appliances from Redesign Group for City Hall and the PD. This purchase will be executed through the NASPO ValuePoint Master Agreement No. 23026, utilizing Participating Addendum No. 7-23-70-55-01 with the State of California (Attachment No. 1). The proposed purchase involves replacing the current Dell Compellent Storage Area Network at City Hall (Attachment No. 2) and PD (Attachment No. 3) with the Dell PowerStore 500T Storage Appliance. The purchase price includes a buy-back credit for the existing Dell Compellent hardware, facilitating a cost-effective and efficient upgrade to our storage infrastructure.
The NASPO ValuePoint is a cooperative purchasing program facilitating public procurement solicitations and agreements. The Purchasing Department has determined that the procurement process conducted by NASPO ValuePoint meets the City of Pomona’s requirement for utilizing cooperative agreements. City Code Sec. 2-997 – Cooperative Purchasing, authorizes the Procurement Officer to recommend cooperative or "piggyback" purchases based on awarded contracts for services or equipment established by other governmental agencies. This provision enables the City to utilize existing contracts, ensuring cost-effective and efficient procurement of technological hardware.
The City Hall and PD upgrades of current Dell Compellent Storage Area Networks (SANs) to the new Dell PowerStore 500T Storage Appliances represent a significant enhancement in data storage performance and scalability. This transition will also bolster our cybersecurity posture by replacing hardware that has reached its end-of-life. The adoption of the PowerStore 500T will streamline storage management, reduce IT workload, and improve overall operational efficiency, ensuring we are well-prepared for future growth.
