SUBJECT: APPROVE PURCHASE OF A SKID STEER LOADER TRACTOR FROM JOHN DEERE SHARED SERVICES LLC RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council take the following actions:
Approve the purchase of a Skid Steer Loader with Excavator tractor from John Deere Shared Services LLC (John Deere) in the amount of $106,673 utilizing Sourcewell contract number 011723-JDC; and, Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute subsequent changes or amendments thereto, on behalf of the City.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Proposed action is the approve purchase of a Skid Steer Loader with Excavator tractor (Skid Steer) from John Deere for use by Water Resources operations. The Skid Steer is a small size tractor that can be outfitted with a variety of tools to facilitate construction work.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact is to complete this purchase is $106,673; price is based on established Sourcewell contract (011723-JDC). Supplemental budget request was approved in the amount of $110,000 by City Council to purchase the Skid Steer in the FY 2024-25 adopted Water Fund budget (account number 571-8122- 66182-00000).
PREVIOUS RELATED ACTION:
On June 3, 2024, City Council adopted the FY 2024-2025 Water operating budget and supplemental budget request which included funding for a new Skid Steer.
DISCUSSION:
A Skid Steer is a small construction vehicle used for various tasks. It typically includes a bucket as the default attachment but can be outfitted with many different attachments, allowing It to assist with all sorts of construction and landscaping projects. A new Skid Steer will improve productivity through faster operation, better performance, and the ability to handle more tasks or heavier loads. A skid steer comes with a variety of attachments, making it versatile. This can reduce the need for multiple tractors and construction equipment.
Pricing was obtained by utilizing a Sourcewell contract with John Deere. Pomona City Code §2-997, Cooperative Purchasing, authorizes the Procurement Officer to recommend a cooperative or “piggyback” purchase on an awarded contract for services or equipment entered into by other governmental agencies. Purchasing has reviewed the bid process Sourcewell uses and recommends purchasing John Deere.
