RESOLUTION NO. 2024-194
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA, CALIFORNIA, SCHEDULING A MEETING FOR DECEMBER 9, 2024, TO ACCEPT THE OFFICIAL CANVAS OF THE 2024 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND ADMINISTER OATHS OF OFFICE TO INCOMING CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS WHEREAS, Section 503 of the Pomona City Charter requires that regular meetings of the City Council be established by ordinance or resolution; WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2004-32, which establishes the first and third Monday of each month for regular meetings and the second Monday of each month for Study Sessions, as necessary; WHEREAS, In order to ensure an orderly transition of newly elected officials into office and facilitate administering oaths of office to re-elected Councilmembers, Ordinance No. 4252, requires that the City Council receive the Official Canvass of Election and declare the election results as the first item of business at their next regularly scheduled meeting, but no later than the second Monday in December of even years; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to schedule a regular meeting for Monday, December 9, 2024, to accept the official canvas of the November 2024 General Municipal Election and administer oaths of office to incoming Council Members.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Pomona as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby schedules a meeting for December 9, 2024, to be conducted as a regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council.
SECTION 2. All other City Council meeting dates established in accordance with Resolution No. 2004-32 remain unchanged unless otherwise rescheduled by resolution.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and it shall become effective immediately upon its approval.
