RESOLUTION NO. 2025-35
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING THE ORDER OF APPOINTMENT OF VICE-MAYOR AND SELECTING AND DESIGNATING DISTRICT 5 COUNCILMEMBER, STEVE LUSTRO, AS VICE-MAYOR WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 3662 was adopted on August 3, 1992, establishing a process for selecting and designating a member of the City Council to serve as Vice-Mayor; WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 3662 specifies that “the new order of appointment of Vice-Mayor shall be established by adding the district number of the new Councilmember to the bottom of the list. In the event that two or more new Councilmembers are added to the order at the same time, their positions on the order shall be determined by listing their respective Council districts in descending numerical order.” WHEREAS, as a result of the November 5, 2024 General Election, new Councilmembers for Districts 1 and 6 took office on December 9, 2024, thereby changing their position on the order in descending numerical order.
WHEREAS, an eight month period has lapsed requiring the appointment of a new Vice-Mayor by the City Council, pursuant to Article II, Section 2-41 (a) of the Pomona City Code; WHEREAS, according to the order of appointment set forth in Resolution 2024-91, the next designated Vice-Mayor would be the Councilmember from District 5; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Pomona, California, as follows:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to Pomona City Code, Section 2-41(b), the order of appointment for the selection and appointment of Vice-Mayor, as set forth in Resolution 2018-97, is as follows:

Councilmember from District 2
Councilmember from District 3
Councilmember from District 5
Councilmember from District 6
Councilmember from District 4
SECTION 2. That in accordance with Pomona City Code Section 2-41(b), the order of appointment for the selection and appointment of Vice Mayor, following the certification of the November 5, 2024 General Election is as follows:
Councilmember from District 2
Councilmember from District 3
Councilmember from District 5
Councilmember from District 4
Councilmember from District 6 (New Councilmember)
Councilmember from District 1 (New Councilmember)
SECTION 3. That pursuant to Pomona City Code, Section 2-41(b), the order of appointment for the selection and appointment of Vice-Mayor, shall be as follows until such time the Council reorders the rotation for Vice-Mayor:
Councilmember from District 5
Councilmember from District 4
Councilmember from District 6
Councilmember from District 1
Councilmember from District 2
Councilmember from District 3
SECTION 4. That the City Council hereby selects and designates Steve Lustro, Councilmember from District 5, to serve as Vice-Mayor for an eight (8) month period, commencing on the date of adoption of this resolution.
SECTION 5. That in accordance with Pomona City Code Section 2-41(b), the order for the next selection and appointment of Vice-Mayor shall be as follows:

Councilmember from District 1
Councilmember from District 2
Councilmember from District 3
Councilmember from District 5
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and it shall thereafter be in full force and effect.
