DISCUSSION:
On October 3, 2024, the City of Pomona was awarded $8,000,000 by the Board of State and Community Corrections through the Proposition 47 Grant Program. Proposition 47 seeks to reduce incarceration for nonviolent offenses and reinvest the savings into community-based programs that focus on mental health services, substance use treatment, victim support, housing assistance, and recidivism reduction.
As the City continues its commitment to violence prevention, the Pomona Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) has recognized the significant value of Ms. Megan Anderson’s technical expertise in achieving program goals and fulfilling the requirements of the Proposition 47 Grant. In support of our grant management efforts, the City has engaged the Institute of Ecological Civilization (EcoCiv) to secure Ms. Anderson’s specialized services as a part-time consultant for the duration of the grant cycle. Her advanced skills in data collection, particularly for quarterly reports, and her in-depth understanding of BSCC’s technical requirements are critical in ensuring that our program remains in strict compliance with all guidelines while aligning activities with our broader objectives.
Ms. Anderson’s role is pivotal to our operational success. She brings a proven track record of synthesizing complex program data into actionable insights, which has significantly enhanced our ability to monitor progress and address emerging challenges. Her expertise not only streamlines the data management process but also fosters efficient communication with BSCC, ensuring that all reporting obligations are met promptly and accurately. Furthermore, her specialized technical proficiency supports ongoing strategic discussions aimed at refining our grant management processes and maximizing the impact of our violence prevention initiatives.
In addition to these core responsibilities, Ms. Anderson’s involvement will facilitate improved coordination among internal teams and external stakeholders, ultimately strengthening our program’s effectiveness. Her dedicated efforts contribute to a seamless and proactive approach in managing the Proposition 47 Grant, reinforcing the City’s mission of building a safer and more secure community.
