A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POMONA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF MAY 2025 AS “AFFORDABLE HOUSING MONTH” IN THE CITY OF POMONA WHEREAS, affordable housing is a fundamental human right, and yet, each year, thousands of Pomona families and individuals struggle to find an affordable home in this expensive housing market; and WHEREAS, we value collaboration with other local jurisdictions, non-profit organizations, developers, and service providers in the efforts to create affordable housing that is integrated with programs, services with a facility to accommodate a range of supportive services, classes, and gatherings; and WHEREAS, there are upcoming developments in the City of Pomona that exemplify partnerships among stakeholders and a cohesive approach toward addressing housing and other social needs; and WHEREAS, one of the developments is Chris Hartmire Plaza with Cesar Chavez Foundation as the developer. This project involves 90 affordable housing units for low-income families and homeless veterans. Partners include the State, the San Gabriel Valley Regional Housing Trust, Tri-City Mental Health Center and the City of Pomona; and WHEREAS, another development is the Prisma Artist Loft, a 75-unit affordable housing development with National CORE as the developer. National CORE will work with Hope Through Housing Foundation, a non-profit organization, to provide on-site social services focusing on development, educational, and workforce opportunities for families living in and around the development; and WHEREAS, affordable Housing Month encourages all citizens, legislators, non-profit organizations, and funders to collaborate in funding similar and creative solutions to meaningfully increase housing affordability across all income levels.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Pomona does hereby proclaim the month of May 2025 as Affordable Housing Month in the City of Pomona and call upon our community to support affordable housing solutions and to recognize the successful efforts of the City of Pomona and its partners who seek to improve access to affordable housing in Pomona. “AFFORDABLE HOUSING MONTH”
