City Council,
As you review the Council Policy and Procedures, please consider re-emphasizing the importance of respecully not interrupng other people on the dais. Almost every meeng, I observe someone who has not been recognized by the Mayor, interrupt another person who has the floor and is speaking. For example, during the last meeng in March one speaker was interrupted twice during their Councilmembers’ Reports and Comments me near the end of the meeng. Earlier in the meeng, the City Manager was interrupted and cut off while trying to answer a queson. Thank you to those on the dais that consistently follow this basic meeng protocol.

Near the end of the last Council meeng there was an announcement made regarding a council member working with the REACH nonprofit organizaon on a new City mural. Although few details were menoned, it sounded like something related to the City Heroes, History, and Heritage Policy secon regarding public art. Whatever the appropriate process may be moving forward, please operate in full transparency with the enre City Council, the Cizen’s Advisory Commission, and the general public.
Thank you.

Subject: City Council Public Comment Presentaon #6 State of the Port Greetings Mayor McQueen-Legohn, Mayor Pro Tem Lopez, and Councilmembers Gama, Hernandez, and Perez
I write this letter in support of The Port of Hueneme, and their community engagement. ThePort is truly committed to the community, specifically here in Port Hueneme and including South Oxnard.
I am a counselor at Hueneme High School and appreciate the Port's willingness to collaborate with local schools and non-profit entities. I have witnessed many of our students enjoying learning about the port through Port tours, participation in the Global Trade and Logistics class, the FIRST Robotics competition, and the famous Banana Festival. Many of our Hueneme High School students have participated in volunteer opportunities with the port, including the past 5k run, Santa to the Sea, and the Banana Festival. When I contacted the port last year for a food donation for our graduating senior class of 2024, we were gracious to receive bananas, bottled water, and lip balm to give our students as they participated in two days of senior activities and graduation practice.
The community engagement team and the Port as a whole, is truly committed to collaboration and building and strengthening our community. I look forward to continued success from the Port of Hueneme.
Sincerely,
