Various agencies throughout the county have participated in the planning of this live drill. A final planning meeting will be held on July 13th. The live drill will take place on July 16th, 2026, at 10:15am, at which time an evacuation alert will be announced as a drill through the Genasys alert system. The idea is that city residents evacuate to the designated evacuation area and are then polled on how they received the evacuation notification. The Incident Command Center will be at City Hall, and a follow-up meeting among the agencies involved will take place immediately after the drill to discuss what worked and what can be improved. Businesses located in the City of Portola are not required to participate in this live drill. An informational flyer will be distributed to the community soon, explaining the purpose of the drill.
Advised that the soap, paper towel, and toilet paper dispensers have been replaced in public restrooms at City Hall and the Park to improve efficiency of consumable items such as soap and paper products.
