6. Ad Hoc Committee Review
Mayor Powers and Mayor Pro Tem Battaglia provided some background on the Permanent Local Housing Allocation (PLHA) funding, which stems from a housing bill signed by Governor Brown in 2017 aimed at addressing California’s housing shortage and housing costs and established a $75.00 reporting fee on all real estate documents. The City will receive approximately $47,200 of the fees collected by the State of California. The funding is aimed at assisting cities and counties in increasing housing for households below the 60% median income.
Both Mayor Powers and Mayor Pro Tem Battaglia are considering different ideas for distributing this money. They will continue to explore the PLHA funding project in the ad hoc committee and plan to bring their recommendations back to council in the near future.
