Per the warrant list, payment is proposed to Woodside Patrol in the amount of $1267.50 with the description of Zott's to Tots Traffic Control. Neither myself as Chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee nor Ed Holland, Chair of the Bicycle, Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Committee contracted for these services. Our two committees, in partnership w/ the Sheriff are responsible for all aspects of the traffic control for the event. Ed mentioned he did see their "Prius" parked on the road but did not see them delivering any services. Who contracted for these services. Who approved them? Was the approver physically present on the day of the event to ensure the contracted services were delivered? If it was the Sheriff, do they have authorization to contract for 3rd party services on behalf of the Town? Based upon what I know and the comments from the volunteers who WERE present at the event, do not find this to be valid expense on behalf of the Town. If for some reason, the Town contracted for these services, why were neither myself nor Ed consulted/engaged? My guess is we would have told the Town not to waste their money and instead maybe we could provide chips/salsa and some cookies for the Volunteer Appreciation event.
