Discussion: This project is part of an annual program to replace outdated traffic equipment as necessary to maintain uninterrupted operations of the City's traffic signals. The Public Works Department operates and maintains 56 signalized intersections in the City of Poway. Forty-three of the signalized intersections had type 170 controllers, which is the first generation of computer controller for signals in California. The type 170 controller has been discontinued resulting in difficulty finding replacement parts and lacks functionality of modern signal controllers. This project replaced the obsolete controllers with type 2070 controllers and installed the necessary fiber and network switches to improve traffic signal communications and integration with the City's traffic management systems. Econolite Systems, Inc. has completed all work in accordance with the contract plans and specifications. The single change order, in the amount of $3,671.50, consisted of installing controllers at five locations that were not part of the project scope. Additionally, the change order included the installation of power receptacles at four locations to provide the necessary power supply for the additional equipment being installed at these locations. The final contract amount is $523,223.34.
