EXTERNAL EMAIL
I was told that the City Clerk was not forwarding our emails to the council members re 5/6/25council meeting item 10. Here is the email we sent yesterday:
Mayor Vaus and Councilmembers,
We are opposed to the proposed ordinance (Item #10) that would allow a majority of the councilmembers the ability to impose fines of up to $1000 per day on anothercouncilmember.
We can't believe you all think this is the right thing to do.
In our opinion, it is better to refer violations to the DA, FPPC, or CA Attorney General ratherthan for councilmembers to fine each other.
Council members should not be allowed to go after other council members in this way as it would seem to be a vandetta against someone because you don't agree with theiropinions/votes, etc.
This mayor and council have already lost the trust of many people in Poway and this could be seen by many as corruption.
Hopefully Vaus and the council will realize that you have gone off the deep end. Ordinancesshould not be written up with the intent to get rid of your political opponents! They should be written up for the good of the community. Please step back from your intense desire to get oneperson off the council, and try to re-focus on the needs and wants of the community. Please stop trying to tear our community apart with all your infighting.
Sincerely,
Sandra and Bob Casey

Like many other Poway residents, I am opposed to proposed ordinance #10, which is on the docket for May 6.. Wouldn't it make more sense to refer purported violations to the districtattorney, FPPC, or California attorney general rather than allow council members to fine each other? The council seems to be working in secret or in collusion on some issues, which causesdisagreements to fester and become politically motivated.
I also oppose the council appointing new members rather than allowing residents to vote on them. It makes it appear that the entire city council is out of control and should be replaced.
