NOTICE OF CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Poway will hold a Public Hearing to consider the following item: Amendment of Poway Municipal Code Chapters 15.24 and 8.76, to designate Fire Hazard Severity Zones as identified by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and to consolidate existing defensible space regulations. The City of Poway is required by Government Code 51179 to designate, by ordinance, moderate, high, and very high fire hazard severity zones within 120 days of receiving recommendations from the State Fire Marshal. The City of Poway may, at its discretion, increase the area identified as a Fire Hazard Severity Zone. The City of Poway may not decrease the level of fire hazard severity zone as identified by the State Fire Marshal. The City of Poway is not proposing any changes to the Fire Hazard Severity Zones as identified by the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The Fire Hazard Severity Zone map is viewable at www.poway.org/firezones . This project is exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), pursuant to Section 15061(b)(3) for the CEQA guidelines, as it entails adoption of State-mandated codes, with minor local amendments, and there is no possibility that this will have a significant effect on the environment. Written comments received via email before 3:00 p.m. the day prior to the meeting will be distributed as formal additional material as well as be made available online prior to the City Council meeting. Written comments received after this deadline will be forwarded to the Council, but not available online until after the City Council meeting.
