Hello!Hope you are well.
Regarding agenda item 8 for the Dec 2nd City Council meeting:
Requiring city council approval for further development of the ridgeline area is a good idea.
As a nature preserve, the ridgeline area benefits all of Poway. People can enjoy the naturetrails and breath in the fresh air created by having so many plants nearby. It also helps reduce the city heat island effect. But developing this area into a few mansions only benefits the 5 orso families that buy the houses and creates a loss for everyone else in Poway. More housing is needed in Poway and is required by law but it can be in already developed areas instead ofdestroying our nature preserve. There is a huge amount of housing that can be added via duplexes, ADUs, starter homes, and small apartments in the developed Poway area. There isno need to develop our shared community space that is ridgeview.
Thank you for reading,

RE: Agenda Item #8 – Restore City Council Authority Over Hillside Ridgeline Review Dear Mayor Vaus and Council Members,
It’s a good idea to restore and strengthen Poway’s ridgeline protections. Our ridgelinesand hillsides are central to our Poway identity, full of natural beauty, and wildlife habitat. Weneed to be good stewards of our local ecosystems and natural environment. Publicinvolvement in these decisions is necessary.
Why ridgeline protections matter to residents:
Our general Plan says "Prominent ridgelines and hilltops shall not be built upon." Preserve Poway’s scenic character and property values
Protect wildlife habitat and native plants
Reduce wildfire dangers and landslide risks
Limit light pollution and protect our night skies
I support City Council—not staff—approving all single-family homes within the ridgelinereview area, including those with previously approved visual impact analyses. This optionprovides transparency, restores public oversight, and ensures the community has a voice indecisions that shape Poway’s future.
Please act to protect the landscapes that define “The City in the Country.” Thank you for considering
I
Sincerely,
Julie Randolph
