SUBJECT: Appointment of a Representative to Serve on the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District Board of Trustees
SPECIFIC REQUEST OR RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council appoint Council Member Steve Downs to serve on the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District Board of Trustees for the remainder of the current term, which expires January 6, 2025.
JUSTIFICATION OR INFORMATION
The Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District (the District) Board of Trustees includes a representative from the City of Rancho Mirage. This position was most recently held by Isaiah Hagerman, City Manager, whose service began in November 2018. Mr. Hagerman resigned from the District on March 25, 2022; therefore, the position is currently vacant.
This vacancy was properly noticed and the City Council may appoint a new representative to fill the position through the remainder of the current term. One application was received, from Rob Bergstein, a copy of which was provided to the City Council and is available in the City Clerk's office. Council Member Steve Downs has also volunteered to serve as the City's representative on the District Board of Trustees.
The City Manager recommends that the City Council appoint Council Member Steve Downs to serve on the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District Board of Trustees for the remainder of the current term, which expires January 6, 2025.
