Hello Kristi
Would you please pass my comments to the city Council to be included in other statements regarding the fireworks display request the city will discuss at the next council meeting?
“To the Mayor and City Council:
I want to thank you for the letter sent last week regarding Morningside country club’s request for a fireworks permit. This is the first time the community has had the opportunity to weigh in as far as I recall and I am grateful for the opportunity to do so.
These surrounding neighborhoods have to tolerate this every year without prior notification. Frankly, I don’t understand the purpose of the fireworks nor do I think they should be tolerated. We have public fireworks on July 4 at Aqua Caliente to celebrate our nation’s independence which should be sufficient for this small community. I would like to see a total ban of fireworks other than the July 4 display in our community.
I am wholeheartedly against the request for this permit. A five minute fireworks display to welcome snowbirds back to our community is frivolous, dangerous and terrifying for our pets.
Thank you for your consideration

Dear Rancho Mirage City Council,
We are residents of Morningside Country Club.
We would be against the fireworks in our community because of fire danger.
There are also many pets in our community.
The loud sounds from the fireworks would pose an unnecessary hardship on the animals.
Sincerely,
Erika and Robyn Ray

RE: Permit Case #SE22‐0022‐39033 – Morningside Drive, Rancho Mirage
I am completely opposed to the above‐referenced permit request and would like my opposition to be officially recognized for consideration at your council meeting.
These are my thoughts & concerns:
1. Fireworks are ILLEGAL in Riverside County – enough said (see attached documentation).
2. It is thoroughly disappointing that the City of Rancho Mirage would even consider a motion that has been deemed illegal in the county of Riverside.
3. This fireworks display is on a NOT‐NEEDED basis – this is a purely bombastic and unnecessarily over‐the‐top display for an “annual club opening”.
4. If this display is approved for an “annual club opening”, shall we assume that this will become an annual fireworks display?
5. May I suggest a nice cocktail party with champagne & confetti poppers, if they feel the need to pop something?
We all know that fireworks in California are a bad idea and we would be negligent as citizens to allow special consideration to be granted to a private entity such as this.
It is bad faith and a bad idea.
Sincerely,
Christopher R. Pino
