November 10, 2023 Dear Council Members,
I am writing to respond to Item #13 on the agenda for filling the City Council vacancy created by the resignation of Richard Kite.
The Council has a history of filling any opening with a friend or colleague and voting unanimously on every single agenda item. The perception of the Council by residents is that items are determined by previous discussion and no alternate opinion is involved or accepted. It is time for additional ideas and voices to be considered and discussed! We need to look to the future with candidates that represent our younger demographics as well as seniors.
I strongly recommend selecting a candidate that will not seek a full term on the Council. This will allow residents the opportunity to vote for candidates from an equal position rather than the advantage of an incumbency. Sincerely,
