Rancho Mirage city's rich architectural history coins us as the, "Rancho Mirage Design District". Along Highway 111, starting from Mirage Rd. to Painters Path there is a plethora of custom builders, design firms, design consultations, fine furniture/fixture boutiques, and more. Each of these locations offer locals, tourists, and snow birds, stunning options to choose from
Here are a few reasons to coin this area as the, "Rancho Mirage Design District," • The Iconic Round Building now known as Decorator's Depot, is a staple of architectural history in which we have a duty to preserve. "Preserving our architectural legacy is hugely important because I think having architectural variety is what makes our environment a nice place to live," Melissa Riche said. (Desert Sun, 2023, Emma Sasic). Since this building is an architectural marvel, it only makes sense for the building to be apart t of the design district.
• Originally built in 1973 by Noel F. Birns and joined later by famous designer Steven DeChristopher in 1974.
Stated by DeChristopher's in 1974, "We want to expand but at the same time continue the quality of our design service. We both represent a standard of excellence, and as a united force we can channel energy into new and exciting projects." Today, we continue this legacy, with David E. Scott Design Builders and Decorators Depot by providing world class design and build with trust, quality, and integrity. Since we have taken ownership we have brought this legacy back to life.
• Houses in Rancho Mirage are known to embrace our desert views. Decorators Depot's building has panoramic views of the desert. There is nothing like this building in the desert. • Cotino residents along with other surrounding developments, will soon need each of our professional services and expertise. This will ensure continued growth for each of these design businesses off Highway Ill. • This community is a design conscious public.
• Create more TOT (Transient Occupancy Tax) for the city. • Increase property values.
• This will be a great selling tool to attract new businesses to the "Design District" area.
Rancho Mirage is known as the "playground of the presidents". City leaders have helped shape this city's path for decades. Lets continue to shape it for our future designers, builders, brick & motors, and citizens of our city by designating this area the Rancho Mirage Design District.
