Attention: City Clerk (K. Ramos) - [email protected] Re: Written letter to be entered in the Public record and made available for public Inspection for the December 5, 2024 (scheduled meeting start time: 1:PM) City of Rancho Mirage Council meeting (PUBLIC HEARING) - Agenda Item: 1.A,B,C (Proposed Residential Affordable Housing Development)
Dear current Elected and Appointed City Council members, Please review the written statements listed below prior to the consideration of agenda Item:
1.A,B,C (proposed Residential High Density (R-H) Development with an "Affordable" Housing Overlay (AHO) within a selected City of Rancho Mirage location that City officials mandated long established land/use designations changed (weakened) over the objections of local residents).
It's highly recommended to abandon the City Council's ambitions to once again force (mandate) unwelcomed, inappropriate and misguided development within the once Great city of Rancho Mirage, Riverside County California. Rancho Mirage's current City Council and potentially unidentified "Special Interests" have gained the authority to dictate selected Individuals and industrial applications to be approved over the wishes of City Residents to keep Rancho Mirage as a nice liveable bedroom community that families can feel safe.
Recently the City of Rancho Mirage Council conducted several "Special" meetings to approve a similar low Income community housing development (Northeastern area of Rancho Mirage) that removed controlling aspects of property ownership and placed mastive financial burdens among Rancho Mirage City residents.
It's reasonable to consider that City representatives (City Council members) have chosen selected properties to be sacrificed for their special Interests. Thoses chosen properties are not within and or near City Council's residential homes (properties). Not in my-back-yard (NIMBY's) clearly was established first with the current Rancho Mirage City Council members.
It's NOT reasonable that City Residents/Businesses should be forced to accept another Rancho Mirage City Council recommended project (Development) that will negatively impact city
residents with quality of life issues (over crowding/supplementing low Income households that are not currently within City boundaries (Imported from other locations)).
It's reasonable that further Public imput and discovery of this city project should be considered. Community forum(s) should of been held in regards to this proposal prior to any scheduled Public Hearing. A robust attempt should've been performed to seek request for proposals (RFP's). City imposed "fee's" (Impact and other development monie requirements) should be collected by City officials and NOT deferred and or eliminated.
Please record this written statement in opposition to the City of Rancho Mirage once again burdening it's residents with integrity issues that a few City Council members will possibly benefit from at a GREAT cost to the overall community of Rancho Mirage.
Sincerely,
Brad Anderson | 37043 Ferber Dr. Rancho Mirage, CA. 92270 Cc:
