Attention: Clerk of the Board / City Manager / General Public Re: Written letter to be entered in the Public record and made available for public Inspection for the January 16, 2025 (1:PM) City of Rancho Mirage Council meeting - Agenda Item: 1. (Consent Calendar - December 19, 2024 meeting minutes)
Dear current Elected and Appointed City Council members, This letter is in strong opposition to the approval of the December 19, 2025 City of Rancho Mirage Council meeting minutes as written. California governmental code: 54954.3(a)(c) - allows the opportunity for members of the public to directly address the legislative body on any item of interest to the public. It's reasonable to consider that remarks made to the legislative body would be recognized and recorded accurately within the written meeting minutes of those public meetings.
Please be advised that during the December 19, 2024 City of Rancho Mirage Council meeting (Agenda Item: 12) the decision was made to eliminate the widely used summary meeting minute method of recording verbalize testimony at City wide Public meetings.
It's critical that City officials resume the method of summary formatted meeting minutes for the Rancho Mirage City Council's December 19, 2024 Public meeting.
It's reasonable to consider that actions of city council shouldn't be enacted at the same meeting that approval was granted. It's critical that Public disclosure would include written statements (Summary meeting minutes) of WHY written public meeting minutes were SO radically different from prior City recorded meeting minutes.
Non-Agenda Public comment and ALL other agenda Items of the December 19, 2024 City of Rancho Mirage Council meeting needs to be accurately recorded (Summary meeting minutes) It's highly likely that City officials wish to censor Public testimony given at the December 19, 2024 City of Rancho Mirage Council meeting and all future Public meetings held under it's authority.
Please don't take any reprisal actions against my private property or person for reporting this clear "oversight" and or puposely constructed injustice to censor verbal testimony of the December 19, 2024 City of Rancho Mirage Council meeting proceedings.
