Re: Written letter to be entered in the Public record and made available for public Inspection for the February 20, 2025 (1:PM) City of Rancho Mirage Council meeting - Agenda Item: 5 (Contracts - #3 & 4)
Dear current Elected and Appointed City Council members, Please review my written statements listed below prior to the consideration of each agenda Items as listed.
In opposition to the proposed contracts (agenda Item: 5) Contracts: 3 and 4 1) Contract: 3 (Michael Baker International (MBI) $315,845.00) Transparency - is lacking in the internal operations of the City of Rancho Mirage, California.
Recently the city of Rancho Mirage eliminated the long held and transparent manner of having City elected and appointed council member's approved the completion of city contracted projects.
It's highly likely that city officials have decided to cloud transparency with simlar actions associated with this proposal.
It's alarming that this contract proposal (written staff report) detained that city officials strategically acquired selected private properties for the stated reason to increase public parking at a local park (White Water/Rancho Mirage Community park).
Please consider that only two (2) of the private properties that the city of Rancho Mirage had purchased will be recommended for parking areas in that area. Those and other properties have been removed from tax-rolls while City officials decided to sell city retained property that was already obtained near that very same park to a selected "special Interest" for what was thought of as a "unique and unusual good deal" for that buyer.
Because of the lack of transparency of the City's intentions to inquire private property in a selected location while selling city owned property within that location to "special Interests" has shown that City officials haven't been transparent to the residents of Rancho Mirage.
It's reasonable to consider that the City desires to not seek other request for proposals (RFP's) for the work detailed within the Citys staff report. That action would be in-line with how the
city of Rancho Mirage wishes to operate (status quo operations) with little transparency to the very citizens that support the City of Rancho Mirage.
It's highly recommended to seek out other candidates (Contractors) through a (RFP) procces (best practices protocols) for this City contract.
2) Contract: 4 (Savant Solutions - Surveillance /Agreement $34,337.54/3yr) It's reasonable to consider that other vendors could be obtained locally at a more realistic cost for Video and or Audio recording (real time/proactively surveillance network) of city public spaces (security and asset monitoring).
Please abandon this proposal and re-submit request for proposals (RFP's) for this selected proposal.
It's highly recommended that City officials and or vendors don't take any reprisal actions against my private property or person for reporting this opinion.
Sincerely,
Brad Anderson | 37043 Ferber Dr. Rancho Mirage, CA. 92270 Cc:
