Attention: Clerk of the Board
Re Written letter to be entered in the Public record and made available for public Inspection for the February 20, 2025 (1:PM) City of Rancho Mirage Council meeting - Agenda Item: 7 (PUBLIC HEARING - (RMEA) Rate Adjustment)
Dear elected and appointed City Council members,
Please review my written statements listed below prior to the consideration of agenda Item:
7 (Public Hearing) proposed Resolution to adjust electric generation rate(s) for Rancho Mirage Energy Authority (RMEA) community choice aggregation program customers (City operated organization).
Please accept this letter (e-mail) as a written statement in opposition to the RMEA continued attempt(s) to compare it's authority with (rate adjustments) to Southern California Edison's (SCE) ability to activity monitor and evaluate costs of it's operations.
It's reasonable to consider that RMEA administrative costs associated with ONLY adjusting RMEA power generation rates when SCE had install rate adjustments, should be disclosed to RMEA ratepayers.
It's alarming that RMEA has allowed ONLY 0.05% reduction (proposed discount) compared to SCE electric generation rates. It's reasonable to consider that RMEA has the ability to grant RMEA customers with MUCH-LOWER power (electric) generation rates compared to SCE electric generation rates. It's worth noting, that RMEA originally claimed much-lower rates (up to 5.0%) compared to SCE electric generation rates. RMEA has effectively granted their customers with many programs (give-aways/rebates/Incentives) that could've been redirected to overall cost-savings to ALL RMEA customers.
Please be advised, RMEA has the ability to retain all new residents and businesses (plus - current SCE customers that change SCE service plans) within City of Rancho Mirage as potential customers prior to SCE being involved as a potential electricity provider. It's been repeatedly demonstrated that current SCE customers were enrolled with RMEA without their prior knowledge and approval (personal Information was "hijacked" by RMEA officials (City employees)
Please don't take any reprisal actions against my private property or person for reporting this true and accurate statment.
Sincerely,
Brad Anderson | 37043 Ferber Dr. Rancho Mirage, CA.
