Re: Written statement (comment) in regards to Agenda Item: 7B. (Predetermined Annual Re/Appointments to City Boards and Commissions)
Position: In Opposition
It's remarkably clear that the City of Rancho Mirage current procedure of selecting appointees for Boards and Commissions is not a transparent process to city residents and interested candidates.
It's reasonable to consider that current Board and Commission appointees enjoy an unlimited appointment to their desired position if they wish. It's highly recommended to abandon the political maneuver of city officials to exploit "common sense and ethical standards" by "waiving any applicable term limits" to those political appointed positions.
It's critical that different opinions (political independent views) be recognized and represented within City constructed Boards and Commissions. It's nonsensical to ONLY have a mojorty liberal appointed representatives serve the entire population of our City (Rancho Mirage) for an extreme (extended) period of time without some-sort of rotation, So other city residents may enjoy being assigned to serve our city.
All applicants (Names and position being seeked) should be recognized and made available for public Inspection during this procedure. Re-appointments should share that same public disclosure procces. It's extremely nonsensical that a required "Public Records Request" would be requested by city officials to review that public information. It's reasonable to consider that the City of Rancho Mirage have decided to be as non-transparent as possible in regards to it's operations.
Consider following California State regulations and best practices protocols which should dictate ethical values (standards) for open and transparency of the peoples business.
Please don't take any reprisal actions against my private property or person for reporting this true and accurate summary of concerns and opinions.
Sincerely,
Brad Anderson | 37043 Ferber Dr. Rancho Mirage, CA. 92270 Cc:
