Re: Written statement (comments) in response to the City of Rancho Mirage Council meeting of April 17, 2025 (Thursday)
Dear current elected and appointed City Council members, At your convenience please consider reviewing my written statements listed below in regards to my impression of verbal statements and actions taken during the April 17, 2025 regular scheduled City of Rancho Mirage Council meeting.
It was troubling to hear that current rotating Mayor (Weill) was able (once again) to use city resources to promote special Interests (agenda Item: 2A. - presentation). It's reasonable to consider that city and county resources continue to be expelled to selected Individuals (special Interests) solely because of long established (entrenched) political positions of city and county officials. Transparency of City operations may illustrate how certain presentations are allowed during city meetings and what city council member submitted those requests (through potential dictate) and who (If anyone?) Seconds thoses presentations for public meeting scheduling, which are performed out of the Publics ability to monitor thoses actions (If performed?).
As you are aware, Rancho Mirage City Council (current rotating Mayor) refused to allow this resident the ability to review city council member(s) comments/reports (agenda Item: 4.) prior to being forced to provide public testimony in regards to that posted meeting agenda Item. It's been repeatedly demonstrated that City of Rancho Mirage Council have decided to reduce and or eliminate public Involment by NOT sharing city held information with the public prior to city conducted precived open Public meetings. It's completely nonsensical that public speakers are restricted from reviewing city held information (written statements/videos) prior (within 72 hours) before city controlled regular scheduled meeting(s). And city action of NOT allowing citizens the opportunity to see/hear (review) prepared council comments/reports (videos) prior to be required to provide verbal testimony (if desired) is dictatorial power that's out-of control.
It's highly recommended to "allow" common sense and best practice protocols (California State regulations/public meeting procedures) to proval over poorly performed City of Rancho Mirage public meeting practices.
It's worth noting, that council member (Downs) comments (agenda Item: 4) was concerning and disappointing. It's crystal clear that Desert Healthcare District (DHCD) has acted carelessly with it's desire to secure it's authority to dictate selected actions throughout our region of California. Similar to the City of Rancho Mirage, the (DHCD) has mastive resources that have potentially compromised it's Board and well paid administrative staff plus numerous special Interests that have benefited for (DHCD) continued involvement in the Coachella Valley (such as Planned Parenthood and other simlar special Interests).
It's reasonable to consider that major organizations (local Hospital and their contractors) would seek local political representatives (city councils) to help secure resources from public sources.
It's NOT recommended to have special constructed CIty Resolutions for political maneuvers that special Interests are in control of (potentially).
Council member (Downs) also voiced his opinion of potential economy impacts from lack of tourism in the regions future with information he claimed to have received through a local tourism organization. It's reasonable that City officials (council members/administrators) could easily return their self-proclaimed wage increases. Also, it's recommended that city expenditures could be reduced to acceptable levels. City Council members willingness to support their Special Interests with taxpayer's resources could easily be eliminated to help reduce council member (Downs) fear-mongering campaign over the economy and possibly his own personal business Interest fears.
Please be on noticed - that potential Implementation of oversight investigation(s) may be involved in regards to the City of Rancho Mirage willingness to construct and censor aspects of city controlled written meeting minutes of public meetings held under it's authority.
Please don't take any reprisal actions against my private property or person for reporting this true and accurate summary of concerns and opinions in regards to the continue actions of City of Rancho Mirage officials.
Sincerely,
Brad Anderson | 37043 Ferber Dr. Rancho Mirage, CA. 92270 Cc:
