Re: Written comment in regards to Agenda Item: 5D. (Updated Fire Hazard Severity Zone Map)
Dear City of Rancho Mirage,
It's reasonable to consider that increase regulations and avenues to improve best practices protocols in regards to emergency services will continue to take place in the progressive State of California.
Having set policies and best practices procedures will mean nothing if properly performed landscape maintenance is deferred and or not identified by city government as potential hazards.
Having been previously targeted by city officials (reprisal actions) with unfounded accusations of having "dead" vegetation (Native regional plant) on my private property within Citys boundaries. Of course, those misguided accusations from city officials/city contractors were proven to be wrong (incorrect). But unfortunately Rancho Mirage city government and it's contractors were able to use (law fare) and strong-arm technics to extort financial resources from this property owner. It's reasonable to consider if City resources were targeted towards "Real" solutions addressing reduction of potential fire sources around the identified areas outlined (Fire Hazard Zones) our community would be much safer and better served from city officials.
It's highly recommended to maintain ALL landscapes that border the base of the mountainous terrain south of Highway 111 - that extends through the city. Clearly their are city areas (locations) that have dead and or decaying organic matter (shrubs/grasses) that currently would allow potential "wildfire(s)" to easily spread to those wind-blown (down-wind) locations (photographs are available upon request of areas of concern).
Having on-going efforts of city officials to simply maintained landscapes under their control would lessen potential threats/risks to nearby properties.
Please don't take any reprisal actions against my private property or person for reporting this true and accurate summary of concerns and opinions.
Sincerely,
Brad Anderson | 37043 Ferber Dr. Rancho Mirage, CA. 92270 Cc:
