Kiteand Members of the Rancho Mirage City CouncilCity of Rancho Mirage69825 Highway 111Rancho Mirage, CA 92270 RE: Support for Item 6B – Rancho Mirage Affordable Apartments Dear Mayor Kite and Honorable Council members,
On behalf of the Desert Recreation District, I am writing to express our strong support for Item 6B, which advances the Rancho Mirage Affordable Apartments—a 150-unit affordable housing community that will provide high-quality homes for working families in the Coachella Valley.

As the regional provider of recreational and wellness programs that promote healthy, active lifestyles, Desert Recreation District is excited about the potential to collaborate with National CORE and the Hope through Housing Foundation to bring resident-centered programming to this future community.

Both National CORE and Hope through Housing are deeply invested in the Coachella Valley, with a long-standing commitment to affordable housing, resident wellness, and community enrichment. We look forward to building on that foundation by exploring ways to:
• Provide afterschool and summer enrichment programs for youth and families living at Rancho Mirage Affordable Apartments; • Expand access to health and wellness activities, including fitness, nutrition, and recreational opportunities; • Foster social connection and community engagement, supporting resident stability and quality of life.

We commend the City of Rancho Mirage for making City-owned land available, moving swiftly to advance this project, and working in close partnership with a mission-driven development team. This is an inspiring example of how local leadership can create long-term public benefit through collaboration and action.

We urge your approval of Item 6B and look forward to exploring opportunities to serve the future residents of this exciting new community.

Sincerely,Maureen Archuleta Community Services Supervisor Desert Recreation District
