Re: Peterson Road Subdivision: Neighborhood Consensus
I am a property owner in the neighborhood affected by this subdivision. This communication incorporates by reference the written information submitted to the City Council at the November 6, 2025 meeting and the neighbors' oral comments at said meeting.

I request that:

1. The following streets be privatized (not be public). Nielson and Peterson Roads North of Mirage Cove and Mirage Cove East of Peterson Road. Where full or partial public dedications exist, such dedications be vacated. Kelley Lane North of Mirage Cove is an existing private street.

2. NO cement curbs and gutters.

3. The equestrian trails existing by deeded easement and those by common usage over decades be maintained and/or required.

4. Equestrian and walking trails be private and maintained by the property(ies) adjacent to the trail or the neighborhood in total, the method to be determined.

5. Private streets and trails would not require operations and maintenance costs by the City.

6. NO road from the North end of Nielson going to Peterson Road.

This area to be an equestrian and walking trail.

7. A road described above would bring unwanted, onerous traffic.

The road would negatively change the character of the
neighborhood. Neighbors and the City can work together to satisfy outside agencies (Fire Department, etc.) requests.

8. Tamarisk Trees at North end of Peterson Road cut down by January 31, 2026.

9. Plant trees along street perimeters of 2 acre parcel on Northwest corner of Peterson and Mirage Cove and 5 1/2 acre parcel on Northeast corner of Peterson and Mirage Cove. Trees planted before May 1, 2026.

To Whom it May Concern,
Firstly, I wish to thank everyone at the city from the Planning Department to the City Council for being so accommodating to our community. I realize that you have a whole lot more you take care of than our little area, so it is very much appreciated that we have had the access to staff and council that we have. Please see the attached letter and know that I am very much for the revised proposal, and look forward to seeing the custom home plans being proposed.

Sincerely,

Good Evening,

I live on Nielson Road and we wanted to express the importance of keeping our street private. I and the following neighbors on Neilson all agree to keep our street private. I had to pave the sec on in front of my house and had to move u li es and have certain cactus that I can’t replace if some type of public right away comes through our neighborhood.

If we have to come together and purchase gate for entrance of street and maintain it. Neighbors of Neilson will do so.

We have lived here for over 10 years one of the reasons that makes this place unique and why we love it is the type of land it offers for animals and the history it holds. It would be a shame to loose that feel that’s been able to be tucked away for years.

-My kids have all learned to ride there bikes in front of my house, I prac ce baseball with 3-kids out front, we play football out front, we skateboard and ride bikes out front. My street is safe for my kids the way it is and couldn’t ask for a be er city to live in. But you make my street public and my neighbor hood isn’t safe anymore. I can’t let my kids play outside the way they need to.

Im willing to help my street out to keep private for very important reasons, THANK YOU AGAIN! Appreciate your help and look forward to improving the neighborhood.

I am a property owner on Nielson Rd and am affected by this subdivision. This communication incorporates by reference the written information submitted to the City Council at the November 6, 2025 meeting & the neighbors' oral comments at said meeting except for one thing that I left out because I went over scheduled time which is that I would really like the ugly chain link fence on the northside of Nielson Rd going thru to Peterson, put up without permit, removed.

I request that:

1. The following streets be [privatized (not be public). Nielson & Peterson Roads North of Mirage Cove & Mirage Cove East of Peterson Rd. Where full or public dedications exist, such dedications be vacated. Kelley Lane North of Mirage Cove is an existing private street.

2. NO cement curbs & gutters

3. The equestrian trails existing by deeded easement & those by common usage over decades be maintained & or required (which includes non-permitted chain link fence on North side of Nielson Rd. thru to Peterson Rd to be removed.

4. Equestrian & walking trails be private & maintained by the property(ies) adjacent to the trail or the neighborhood in total, the method to be determined.

5. Private streets & trails would not require operations & maintenance costs by the City.

6. NO road from the North end of Nielson going to Peterson Road. This area to be an equestrian & walking trail as it once was by common usage prior to non-permitted chain link fence.

7. A road described above would bring unwanted, onerous traffic. The road would negatively change the character of the neighborhood. Neighbors & the City can work together to satisfy outside agencies (Fire Department, etc.) requests.

8. Tamarisk Trees at North end of Peterson Rd. cut down by January 31, 2026. (Perhaps the chain link fence from the North end of Nielson going to Peterson Road could be removed at the same time?)

9. Plant trees along street perimeters of 2 acre parcel on Northwest corner of Peterson & Mirage Cove & 5 1/2 acre parcel on Northeast corner of Peterson & Mirage Cove. Trees planted before May 1, 2026

10. A big "thank you" shout out to the Planning Department & City Council for taking time to listen to our concerns and for your service. Our area is indeed truly special and we love living in an area of Rancho Mirage with so much history & a country feel, yet so close to the main highway!
Sincerely,
Steve & Vicki Petersen

Hi Kristi,
I have a slight typo. On #2, it should have said "the eastern side of Peterson Rd. and the western side of Kelley Lane". I reread it and it is a bit confusing. If you need me to change it and resubmit, just let me know.

Thanks,
Kay

Re: Peterson Road Subdivision ( 12/4/25 meeting)

Hello! Once again, I am writing a letter on behalf of my husband and I, Ronald & Kay Williams. We built our home at 38600 Peterson Road, and moved in during August of 2001.

Our property is surrounded by the lots within this proposed subdivision. Here are our current concerns and wishes:

We request that:

1. Kelley Lane, North of Mirage Cove, continue to exist as a private street as there will be no more home "entrances" built in this area of this particular street.

We dedicated the road that we put in front of our home over to the city a couple of decades ago.

We are fine with the road being "as is" and the city continuing to upkeep it and the developer correcting any damage that may be caused during construction.

2. We believe the developer would prefer to have NO cement curbs and gutters as it is fine the way it has been....and continue the horse trail along the eastern side of the street and the western side of Kelley Lane.

3. NO road from the North end of Neilson Road to Peterson Road. This would be fine to have an equestrian/bike/walking trail to connect the two streets.

4. The tamarisk trees at the North end of Peterson Road be removed by January 31, 2026. This would show good faith by the owner that the project will move forward. There have been

mentally challenged individuals living in the trees over the past few years. This was mentioned at the other meetings and the sheriff has the logs of incidences.

5. The lots being subdivided must be cleaned up with all of the torn down piping and chainlink fence removed. It is a fire hazard and safety issue. Again, I was told by the city that this would be done a few times over the past years and there has been no follow through. I can provide the emails if you wish.

Thank you for your consideration,
Kay & Ron Williams
