Subject: Pedestrian death - City of Rancho Mirage
To:

Good morning, (Athena Jreij)
I happen to see you while you were recording in Rancho Mirage the other day. I appreciated your story yesterday in regards to the number of persons that had their lives ended suddenly in my community (City of Rancho Mirage).

I truly understand your profession (local media) predicament with reporting on local governmental agencies while accepting revenue from them. And having very limited sources to rely on (elimination of ERICKA) and other news networks and major funding opportunities lost.

Of course each traffic related death has unique details that only a non-bias investigation would help identify. As you may recall, only a few days ago of a Riverside County Sheriff's department vehicle accident near Rancho Mirage City Hall that ripped out (2) trees and damaged infrastructure of several companies. That story still remains a mystery to our local community of the person(s) involved and stated reason for such an early morning accident happening.

I would guess that most if not all the pedestrian deaths that occurred had NO connection with using the CV-LINK beforehand. I've given city officials (public comments received during city council meetings) my opinion of how to lessen direct connections with pedestrian and vehicular traffic. One idea was for signage that may aid bicyclists/Pedestrians avenues to navigate throughout city streets to help them arrive safety at their destination while avoiding congested roadways.

It's critical to know, that Coachella Valley Association of Government (CVAG) recently took control of Rancho Mirage's traffic signals. That organization has manipulated traffic signals to allow private communities (East bound traffic on Frank Sinatra Dr from the Ritz Carlton) to access Highway 111 and Frank Sinatra Dr. Intersection before the long established method of having collected traffic from main streets (Hwy 111 and Frank Sinatra Dr (West Bound traffic flow) to lessen first. Other traffic signals throughout Hwy 111 have been manipulated to slow and or unnecessary stop traffic flows.

It's reasonable to consider that Hwy 111 drivers are burden and may become impatient between (CVAG) controlled traffic signals.

It's well known of CVAG's current Directors distaste for certain Rancho Mirage City Council in regards to CV-LINKs construction (funding method) along with other aspects (DaVall Dr's furture I-10 Interchange) details.

City Halls (Bus Stop) could be a factor with negativity impacting pedestrian safety. Also having an impressive water feature (West on Frank Sinatra Dr. & Hwy 111) That may distract driver's attention passing on Hwy 111.

It's possible that only the people involved in those accidents that produced those avoidable

deaths were responsible. Procurement of a false narrative related to a major redistribution of wealth (CV-LINK) project should be recognized and recorded accurately (truthful) before assuming those accident victims would of used another route (CV-LINK) if available in that location (near Hwy 111).

City of Rancho Mirage officials (City Manager) has puposely reduced city work on keeping City streets and sidewalks clean of debris. Dirty sidewalks may be a factor of why people are in the roadways.

City of Rancho Mirage governance have becomed compromised and true public safety will be under threat of elimination.

Sincerely,
Brad Anderson | 37043 Ferber Dr. Rancho Mirage, CA. 92270 [email protected] | 760.324.9637 (Home/Sorry No text) Cc:
