TITLE
CONTINUATION OF REMOTE CITY COUNCIL AND COMMISSION MEETINGS DURING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY 2022 PURSUANT TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF AB 361
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
With the Governor’s approval of AB 361, public agencies have been granted the ability to conduct virtual meetings during declared public health emergencies under specified circumstances through January 1, 2024. Based on the requirements of AB 361 (copy attached) the City Council, to continue meeting remotely, must determine that the following conditions exist: (1) there continues to be a health and safety risk due to COVID-19 as a proclaimed state of emergency with recommended measures to promote social distancing; and (2) meeting in person during the proclaimed state of emergency would present imminent risks to the health and safety of attendees. These findings need to be made every 30 days the City conducts remote meetings.
By approval of this item, the City Council finds that the conditions identified above exist and that they necessitate remote City Council and Commission meetings for the coming month. The other requirements associated with continued virtual meetings are outlined in the text of AB 361.
COORDINATION
All City Departments are aware of the requirements of AB 361.
FISCAL IMPACT
